1985 Daihatsu Rugger

In the early 90s Daihatsu attempted to enter the small SUV market here in the USA with the Rocky. If you were elsewhere in the world a 'Daihatsu Rocky' would mean a longer wheelbase, turbo diesel equipped SUV with a rear fiberglass semi-permanent rear topper. If you were in Japan that vehicle would be called a Rugger. This is a 1985 Daihatsu Rugger.

This F75 Rugger rides on twin solid axles with leaf springs on all four corners giving unprecedented offroad capability. The body itself sits on top of a ladder frame chassis. Paint is in excellent original condition and the body has no damage. Brand new BF Goodrich all-terrain tires, white letters out, are mounted on original refinished wheels. Super cool ‘TURBO DIESEL’ block letter decals on either side.

Original blue fabric interior is in excellent shape, as is the interior plastics. Odometer, RPM gauge with little green LED that lights up indicating that the turbo is spooling. Speedometer and RPM gauge in front, voltage, inclinometer and LED clock in the center. HVAC controls include functioning original air conditioning, though there is currently no head unit installed where the stereo should be. In back is a bench seat that can fold forward to give more cargo space. Note that the rear of this Rugger has no seatbelts as they weren’t an option in 1985.

No rust, no rot, no condition issues and it runs fantastically. It’s difficult to get across just how cool this rig is. It’s loved by everyone and everyone has has a style completely on its own. Inlcudes original users manual, complete with maintenance history booklet from original owner
